Frederik Spiess focuses his practice on general liability matters and civil litigation, business and contract disputes, professional liability matters involving insurance and real estate professionals, legal malpractice defense and ethics, construction and real estate disputes and insurance litigation. Mr. Spiess is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts within California.
Mr. Spiess has successfully prosecuted and defended complex and large loss matters, acted as outside general counsel for various businesses, served as a legal ethics and law practice management consultant, handled insurance defense matters, served as cumis counsel, and represented businesses and individuals in contentious and high stakes disputes and litigation. Mr. Spiess strives to offer customized solutions and options that address the challenges facing clients and account for clients’ circumstances and needs.
Mr. Spiess completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego, Eleanor Roosevelt College, where he received his Bachelor of Art Degree, cum laude, in 1998. While at the University of California, San Diego, Mr. Spiess joined the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest undergraduate honors organization. After his undergraduate studies, Mr. Spiess accepted a trustee scholarship from California Western School of Law, where he received his J.D., cum laude, in 2002. While in law school, Mr. Spiess earned American Jurisprudence/Academic Achievement Awards in Legal Writing, Evidence Advocacy and Property II. Mr. Spiess served as a law clerk for two judges at the San Diego Superior Court in his last year at California Western School of Law. He also received training as a mediator and served as a mediator in the San Diego Superior Court, small claims division.
Mr. Spiess is a member of the San Diego Defense Lawyers Association and California Lawyers Association, Civil Litigation section. He is active as a volunteer in the community and enjoys all things ocean.
