Sandra B. Hurn is an associate attorney at the Newport Beach office of Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O’Meara, LLP. Ms. Hurn is licensed to practice law in California. Her practice focuses on civil litigation in the areas of insurance defense of personal injury, including catastrophic claims and wrongful death claims, premise liability, public entity defense, property damage matters, construction defect defense, real estate, and business.
Before joining the Newport Beach office of Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O’Meara, LLP, Ms. Hurn worked as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 corporation where she defended insureds against claims and lawsuits involving personal injury and property damage. Ms. Hurn has jury and bench trial experience in the California Superior Court in unlimited and limited jurisdiction cases. Ms. Hurn has obtained multiple defense jury verdicts. She has been successful multiple times in motions for terminating sanctions which resulted in dismissal of the entire action. Ms. Hurn has extensive experience with settlement negotiations and mediations and has successfully resolved many cases involving alleged damages which exceeded the limits of the applicable insurance policy.
Ms. Hurn earned her Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law. She also obtained a Certificate in Criminal Law. Ms. Hurn obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Law from California State University of Fullerton. For the past four years, Ms. Hurn has been a Board Member of the Vista La Cuesta Homeowner’s Association and is very active in her community. In 2021, Ms. Hurn was elected to the Trabuco Mesa Elementary School Site Counsel. From 2006 to 2012, Ms. Hurn was a Board Member of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Orange County. Ms. Hurn is fluent in Spanish. In her free time, Ms. Hurn enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
