Sean Kay was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and following graduation from high school attended Arizona State University. He majored in Business Law and graduated in the winter of 2017. Thereafter, Mr. Kay interned at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in the summer before entering law school. He began law school in the summer of 2018 at Chapman University and during this time he grew an interest in the interplay between law and economics, which prompted him and a few classmates to form the Law and Economics Society at the law school. One of Mr. Kay’s accomplishments during law school was receiving the CALI award of excellence in practice foundation transactions (class focused on contract drafting and review) – this award is given to the student who receives the highest grade in the class.
In addition to Mr. Kay’s passion for law, he has always shown an interest in entrepreneurial projects. During law school, he tried launching a mobile sports gaming application and formed a sports management company that offered services to NHL players, specifically working with the athletes to sign endorsement deals. Throughout law school, Mr. Kay earned his legal experience working for a law firm that offered its clients corporate transactional services – business entity formation, construction contract review, franchising, copyright and trademark applications, securities, etc. After taking the bar, Mr. Kay used his background in corporate law to secure a position with a small corporate litigation firm where he drafted pleadings, discovery packages, etc.
Mr. Kay has always shown interest in blue-collar work – in college he worked for three years as an irrigation repair specialist for a landscaping company and after finishing law school he worked as a handyman. In addition, Mr. Kay has a passion for carpentry and DIY projects – and over the past couple of years has been making furniture from raw lumber for friends and family. Finally, Mr. Kay has a strong passion for sports – he currently coaches basketball at Huntington Beach High School and assists in coaching AAU basketball teams from the ages of 12 to 18.
