Meet Gianna! Originally from Los Angeles, Gianna later moved to San Diego, where her husband is from, and they are now raising their son and daughter there.
Her interest in law started long before law school. Growing up, Gianna watched her parents run their small business and navigate the legal side of entrepreneurship, an experience that left a lasting impression and ultimately inspired her to pursue a career where she could advocate for others.
Gianna studied Business at Cal State Northridge, initially choosing the major for its flexibility, but everything changed after taking a business law course. The structure and logic of the legal world clicked immediately, and she ended up taking every business law elective available before heading to Southwestern Law School on a full-ride scholarship.
When she’s not at work, Gianna is usually in the kitchen. She’s Italian, loves cooking, and is always on the hunt for great restaurants and breweries. She’s also a certified Pilates instructor and taught Pilates throughout law school, a passion she still keeps up today, and enjoys getting outside to hike and explore San Diego whenever she can.
Q: Have you had a mentor who has helped shape your career, and what lessons have stayed with you?
A: I’ve been fortunate to have several great mentors at Bremer Whyte, but two who have had a particularly strong influence are Dan Crespo and Vik Nagpal. Dan has been instrumental in shaping how I approach case strategy and negotiation, and has had a major impact on the way I resolve cases. Vik has helped me grow in carrier communication, building client relationships, and learning how to market myself to carriers and new clients.
Q: How has your passion for Pilates influenced the way you approach your work as an attorney?
A: Teaching Pilates taught me discipline, consistency, and how to communicate clearly with people at very different levels, which has helped shape the way I work with clients and carriers and build professional relationships.
Q: As an attorney and a parent, how do you balance your career with family life?
A: Finding balance isn’t always easy, but a healthy work-life balance and clear boundaries have always been encouraged by the people I work with here, which has made it possible to handle a demanding job while still being present with my family.
Q: What is your favorite San Diego Restaurant?
A: It’s a toss-up between Rare Society, a steakhouse I highly recommend, and Ken Sushi Workshop, which has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.
A special thank you to Gianna for sharing her experience with us!
