Diversity

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee here at Bremer Whyte Brown and O’Meara works to discover and implement best practices for ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace, with the ultimate goal of providing unparalleled legal services. The members of the Committee include:

Overview

Bremer Whyte is committed to fostering a firm culture that recognizes and celebrates the unique contributions of our diverse organization and legal community. Our firm strives to provide an inclusive environment where the values and ideas of all are recognized and respected. The high quality of our work and the unparalleled service we offer to our clients is built on a foundation of our unique and diverse experiences.

Diversity Strategies

  • Recruitment and Retention: Bremer Whyte focuses our recruitment efforts of law clerks and new attorneys by partnering with law schools with clear and effective diversity initiatives. The firm regularly participates in candidate selection and On Campus/Virtual Interviews with schools that have recognized programs focused on and enriched in equity, inclusion and diversity. Bremer Whyte benefits from these law schools in that they facilitate access and resources for law students interested in employment with our office. The firm also focuses on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment which recognizes the value of unique and diverse voices in our legal profession.
  • Education: Bremer Whyte provides education to our employees on a regular basis, covering topics impacting diversity, bias in the law and an inclusive environment. The firm strives to identify and engage with educators and community members who can offer our employees valuable training and education.
  • Diversity Fellowship: Bremer Whyte offers a diversity fellowship for first year law students, which includes an academic scholarship, paid internship, and a path to future employment with our firm. Details and application information can be found here.
  • Community Involvement: Bremer Whyte partners with local schools to participate in diversity programs and to provide internships and education for students involved in these programs.
    • Bremer Whyte’s Las Vegas office has partnered with UNLV’s Boyd School of Law to participate in the 2L Diversity Program.  The program was designed to place law students from diverse backgrounds in paid internship positions with successful law firms in the Las Vegas area for a full semester.  Bremer Whyte is happy to announce that its first candidate from this noteworthy program started her internship with the firm on January 19, 2021.
    • Bremer Whyte is thrilled that California houses 15 of the top 45 Racially and Ethnically Diverse Law Schools, pursuant to US News and World Report’s December 2020 publication. The firm regularly works with a number of those schools to obtain a diverse selection of candidates for law clerk internships with path to post bar employment at our offices.
