Meet Elizabeth! Elizabeth Do was born and raised in South Korea. She majored in English and Secondary Education at EWHA Women’s University in Seoul. During her sophomore year at EWHA, she earned an opportunity to study in the United States as an exchange student. During that time, she was fascinated by the U.S. legal system, specifically about jury trials and a comprehensive discovery process, that are unique to the United States. This triggered her passion to pursue a legal career in the United States of America.
After a year-long exchange student program, she returned to Seoul and devoted 4 years to teaching English at public high schools and developing teaching curriculums for English teachers. However, her passion to pursue a legal career continued and brought her back to the U.S.
Elizabeth received her Juris Doctor from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2015. While at Boyd, she worked as a research assistant for the Wiener-Roger Law Library conducting numerous research assignments, and analyzing case law to support faculty research projects on various issues. She also interned for then-district court judge and current Nevada Supreme Court Justice, Linda Bell. Elizabeth was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 2015.
Before joining Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara, Elizabeth practiced defense and plaintiff’s personal injury law, handling all aspects of civil litigation, including multiple jury trials, mediations, and complex arbitrations. In 2020, Elizabeth joined Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara’s Las Vegas office, where she practices general liability law.
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, running, and stand-up comedy shows.
Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of?
A: I believe the people in my life reflect some of the professional accomplishments that I am proud of. Former students of mine (back in South Korea) still reach out and thank me for their personal and professional achievements. Former clients who obtained favorable outcomes still appreciate and want to continue a business relationship by referring cases to me.
Q: What advice would you offer someone relocating to another state or country for work?
A: I would say – your willingness to relocate to another state or country for work already shows that you are all up for the challenge, smart, flexible, and adaptable. Remember that your uniqueness and diverse background make you valuable and powerful. Also remember, regardless of where you are, being kind, humble, and working hard will help you reach your goals faster.
Q: What is one surprising fact about you that most people don’t know?
A: I can quote every line from Friends.
A special thank you to Elizabeth for sharing her experience with us!
