Las Vegas Partners Jared Christensen and Scott Ulm Obtain a Complete Defense Verdict

BWB&O Las Vegas just received a complete defense verdict in an excessive force security case. Partners Jared Christensen and Scott Ulm represented the only defendants in the case – a local Las Vegas gaming institution, the owner individually, and three security guards. This case involved claims of false imprisonment, battery, and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The claims arose out of allegations relating to the detention of the plaintiff who was being investigated for misappropriation and theft. Plaintiff alleged that the detention was unlawful and caused physical injuries and severe emotional distress. The BWB&O partners argued that the detainment did not violate Nevada law.

Plaintiffs alleged that the detention was unlawful and caused physical injuries and severe emotional distress. BWB&O partners argued that the detainment did not violate Nevada law. The case went for eight days and was decided by a jury. Plaintiffs, in closing, requested that the Jury award two million dollars in damages. Plaintiffs’ pre-trial demands were in excess of $500,000.00 and Plaintiffs also sought punitive damages. Pursuant to the verdict, Plaintiffs were awarded nothing, for a complete defense verdict!

This was a team effort and a special thanks goes out to associate attorneys, Deleela Weinerman, Kristina Miletovic and Elizabeth Do, and Staff, Michele Jensen, Alexis Robinson and Stephanie Hutchison for the essential assistance provided throughout the case.
