On October 18, 2019, BWB&O’s 9 offices gathered in pink to show support and to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Cancer survivor Kimberly O’Meara shared her story and relationship to local breast cancer support non-profit group AJ’s Comfort Zone, Inc. Ms. O’Meara spoke about AJ’s mission and the importance of raising funds for the purchase and donation of garments for post-surgical breast cancer patients. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that every breast cancer patient who undergoes surgery can go home feeling comfortable with a specially made SOFTEE TWO or other compression garment and a comfort bag.
Breast Cancer, The Importance of Being Aware and Alert:
Every 2 minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Every minute a woman dies from breast cancer.
In the US, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women internationally.
In the US today, there are more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors – the largest group of all cancer survivors.
AJ’s Comfort Zone, Inc. is affiliated with Los Robles Hospital Breast Cancer Center and approximately 20 comfort bags are given our per month to post-surgery breast cancer patients.
