Meet Francis! Francis was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at 4 years old. He grew up in Oakland, California and he still resides in the Bay Area to this day.
Francis got his start in the legal field when he was 19 years old! He worked at a small construction defect firm in Piedmont for about 5 years while he was going to school. After graduating, Francis briefly worked as an assistant project manager at a mechanical engineering company before returning to legal work.
In 2014, Partner Ray Meyer opened the Berkeley office and Francis was one of the first hires. 10 years later, Francis has more than proved to be an integral, dedicated member of our team. He’s remained with BWBO as we moved the office from Berkeley to Oakland to Walnut Creek.
Q: How have you experienced professional growth throughout your career?
A: As BWBO has grown, I’ve become less shy. Over the years I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone to become more vocal since I interact with leadership and many new employees.
Q: How has Bremer Whyte improved over the last 10 years?
A: Technology! Going paperless and being able to access all our documents through our database has been a life and time saver. Back in 2014, I had to create file folders, red wells, and physically file all the paper documents.
Q: What do you do in order to maintain work-life balance?
A: While at work, I focus all my attention on my tasks and try not to allow my personal matters to distract me. I make sure to take breaks throughout the day so that I can come back to my desk and focus. When I clock out, I truly enjoy time with my family and friends so that I can come back the next day refreshed and ready for any challenge.
Q: How do you stay organized at home and in the workplace?
A: I was told long ago that there is a “place” for everything, so when something is moved, that item should be returned to where it came from or thrown away to avoid clutter. I follow this rule at home and at work, to avoid a messy workstation.
A special thank you to Francis for sharing his experience!
