BWB&O is proud to introduce its employee highlight of the month, Ryan S. Leibel! Ryan is an Associate Attorney at Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara, LLP.
Ryan grew up on Long Island in New York. After graduating high school, Ryan moved across the country to attend Arizona State University. Initially, Ryan elected to major in Computer Information Systems but quickly changed to Business Law after discovering a passion for law during an introductory legal course. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Ryan went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. During law school, Ryan externed at the Arizona Justice Project, a non-profit organization that represents indigent Arizona inmates who assert claims of innocence or manifest injustice. Following law school, and before starting at Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara in December 2021, Ryan practiced at a small firm where he litigated real estate and personal injury matters.
Q: Moving across the country can be daunting and exhilarating. What are some of the personal benefits you gained after your move from New York to Arizona?
A: When I moved to Arizona, I did not know a single person in the state. This forced me out of my comfort zone for a long time, but I have since met many amazing people. In the end, the move helped me gain a keen sense of confidence when faced with situations outside of my comfort zone in both my personal life and in my role at BWB&O.
Q: How has your experience at BWB&O helped you in your career development?
A: The first-class mentorship I have received at BWB&O since day one has certainly been a large factor in my career development. Also, the autonomy I have been afforded in my role, even when I was newly licensed, has provided me with countless opportunities to develop and improve my skills in real-time.
Q: Who would you attribute your success to? Please explain.
A: The credit for my success goes to my family which has always been a beacon of support, as well as the entire Phoenix team, with a special shoutout to our amazing support staff.
Q: How do you manage your time effectively to maintain a healthy work/life balance? What are some fun ways that you disconnect and recharge?
A: This has always been a challenge for me. Fortunately, BWB&O actively promotes a healthy work/life balance. I have learned over time to begin my day with the most important and time-sensitive tasks with the ultimate goal of having as much availability as possible in the second half of my day to address the variety of unexpected and potentially urgent matters that may arise. Outside of the office, I enjoy hiking, weightlifting, spending time with my two crazy dogs, and playing basketball, golf, and ping-pong.
A special thank you to Ryan for sharing his experience on his road to success!
